Sooo… when I arrived at work my friend emailed me saying that Eddie Murphy stood up the MEET DAVE Premiere in LA…HA! That is quite funny to me because not only has he resorted to doing these funny family comedies but this man is making MAAAAAAAAADDDDD Money off of these flicks and he has the nerve to be a dick about it.
He should really throw in the towel for good now. I mean… I can understand his angst… and perhaps his boredom with the hollywood antics but at the same time he made a commitment to do a movie and already got paid for it and he can’t even show up to the freaking premiere to help create buzz!!!!
DAMN you Eddie… please be a bit more considerate of others and by others I mean these Jewish men who pay your billz…. lol. Friendly Producer, David Friendly, took up for my man Eddie saying, “He’s not here because he’s doing a movie and shooting – he goes back-to-back-to-back,” “Eddie, he’ll never admit it, but he loves to work. I took a look at the photos on Wireimage/Getty and the event was a complete BUST! First off, the coolest person there was Denzel Whittaker! Secondly, Gabrielle Union… WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? You are not the hottest thing since sliced bread honey. Thirdly, Where the heck were the producers? I guess they got wind of his no show and decided to lay low. (ohhhh there they are…)
So the photo gallery ended up being sparse: Gabrielle, Elizabeth Banks, Gabrielle’s nieces and nephews, Claudia Jordan, Brian Robbins, Scott Caan, Ed Helms, and thats about it folks.
Complete bust! Will Smith Still Reigns Supreme in the box office. Even though the Premiere kind of sucked … I still think “Dave” will score the number two spot in the box office against Hellboy and Journey to the Center of the Earth. No pics on Variety but dude still has a big fat check in the bank.
Some insider thought he was dishing the dirt and said, “This is why he lost for Dreamgirls. This is why Hollywood loves to see him fail. Cause even by Hollywood standards, he’s an asshole among assholes.”
Now first of all!!!! Eddie probably would NEVER win an OSCAR because Black men only win when they are playing the depressing drug lord or drug user roles and unfortunately–even though he ruled the eighties with his comedies… his name does not end in Williams, Ferrell, Martin etc…
He didn’t win the Oscar for “Dreamgirls” because he has always been seen as either a racy black comedian or a silly black man who like to dress up in female fat suits and talk like a drag queen. The role in “Dreamgirls” was not poignant enough to warrant an Oscar and he can’t sing like Jennifer Hudson so…. that is a Moot Point my friend!
And just because you have an inside track on the film doesn’t mean your facts are legit or your opinions are supported… sorry I just had to let him know because he used the Premiere as an excuse to bash on Eddie rather than giving an educated and insightful analysis about the situation.
